In June of 2013, the US Food and Drug Administration issued a revised, draft guidance on Good Manufacturing Practices for cosmetic products, updating the previous guidance from April of 2008. In addition, the introduction of H.R. 1385, The Safe Cosmetics and Personal Care Products Act of 2013 (March 21, 2013), evidences increasing concern within Congress and the Food and Drug Administration regarding the safety and performance of cosmetic products. Jack will outline the legal and regulatory framework driving this new focus, and outline approaches your organization can take to implement practical controls minimizing your exposure to this increased focus.
